Productize It

Product managers need a product, built specifically for them, that actually does something useful

About Productize It

I’ve spent the last several years leading all product development for a growing technology start-up.  I’ve taking our products from ideas on a paper napkin brainstormed over drinks at the bar, to over a few million dollars in sales per year.  I’ve come a long way since it was just three of us in an attic office.  During that time, I’ve come to learn a couple things about product management specifically, for young technology companies.

  1. You’re wrong.  The difference between the time it takes you to realize this and respond is the difference between success and failure.
  2. Your ability to rapidly synthesize the use cases you are hearing from your markets, sales reps, and bring the correct use cases to market is crucial.
  3. Communicating, circulating, soliciting feedback and ultimately gaining buy-in quickly and effectively is critical.
  4. There is no tool on the market built to make this easier for product managers that isn’t other software repurposed.

Although I and the product management industry have come a long way over the last several years,  the market for software to support product managers hasn’t.

This market is waiting for a tool that exceeds Microsoft Excel,Miscrosoft Word, and Wiki’s. A tool that allows product managers to do more then basic use case documentation and tracking, however, provides them with something that makes them produce better more successful and profitable products.

Productize It is going to fill this market gap and produce a product that will allow product managers to

  1. Better manage and support their understanding of existing market needs and emerging product use cases
  2. Better collaborate with their peers in marketing, sales, account management, and user experience on product and market needs
  3. Better identify and predict the correct use cases for a successful product
  4. Better document and communicate their road-map
